One of my favorite things to do during my European winters is to walk up the snowy mountains just to have the pleasure of a nice view at the end. Alpe di Pescedo, around the Como Lake, is one of my favorite ones so far.
The place is one of those only Italians know, and that hiking book you never look into. You need to drive from Gera Lario all the way to the church of San Bartolomeo, which looks like a very old house. Park your car there and start walking upwards on this hike towards Alpe di Mezzo. Once you are there, keep walking until you get to Alpe di Pescedo. The view is breathtaking (1559m high) and the snow is soft as powder!
